Organised by the Young Chamber of Commerce, Townsville's future business leaders were recognised at the 2009 Townsville Young Business Achievement Awards held at "Riverway" on Friday 5th June 2009.

The awards attracted many nominations, with a number of people entering to contest the two categories. The standard in both categories was "extremely high" making it a very difficult task for the judges.

The winners for 2009 were:

Corporate Employee of the Year - Fiona McManimm- Jupiters Hotel Casino  &  Jeff Reibel  - North Queensland Cowboys

Business Person of the Year - Tanya Stainton- Building Industry Online

The Townsville business community should be very happy with the quality of young managers and business owners. The awards highlight the achievements of Townsville's finest and help secure Townsville business future by encouraging young business people to step up and take on managerial positions or to open their own business.

2010 YOUNG BUSINESS ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW BEING SOUGHT FOR THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:

BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR   and    CORPORATE EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR

If you know of someone in business who is 35years or under, innovative, committed, been in business for a minimum of two years and are successful, nominate them today for the awards.   Nominees will be forwarded an Application form direct.  Finalists will be selected and the winners will be announced at the Gala Awards Ceremony to be held on Friday 11th June 2010.

All nominations are to be completed and returned to the Townsville Chamber of Commerce Office by 4pm Friday 19th March 2010 with Category, Name, Business Name/Employer, Postal Address and Phone contact.
